Children’s Day Celebration

Guru Nanak Foundation Public School ,92, Mohali, celebrated children’s day with a range of innovative and fun filled activities at school that seemed much as a festival.

The little angles of kindergarten were dressed in vibrant and colourful attires. They recited beautiful poems, sang songs and dance to the time of happy songs. They also enjoyed movie which enthralled them with their favourite cartoon characters. The school Principal Ms.poonam Sharma said  ‘let the child within us enjoy to the fullest as we remember the great leader of the country and his love for children’.She also opined that though we teach our students to face the challenges of life and achieve success but at the same time our students teach us what life is all about.

Diwali Celebration

The School conducted an Inter House Rangoli Competition for classes IX-X , Card making for classes VI, VII, VIII and Diya decoration for classes III, IV, V on the eve of Diwali. Using eco-friendly colours, the students prepared colourful rangolis on the theme ‘Diwali’.

While celebrating ‘Diwali’ in the campus, our school also led the way in spreading the message of celebrating safe and pollution free eco –friendly Diwali . The students were also educated about the pollution and health hazards caused by chemical based fire crackers. Celebrations of festivals of lights should be in hormony with nature , stresss on beautification and lighting our surroundings, shunning hazardous fire crackers and reducing pollution

Ms. Poonam Sharma , the school Principal told the significance of the festivals- how good always conquered the evil and also about why and how Diwali is celebrated across India. Besides sensitizing students to the ill effects of crackers. She also shared the guidelines on being safe while bursting crackers.

Kindergarten Sports Day

“The enhancement of physical and mental development of children is certainly the most important contribution of sports for children.”

The students of class Nursery participated in Frog Race , Balloon Burst , Pack the Bag , relay Race and Class KG took part in Jump Race , Banana Race , Musical Chair , Pick the Objects etc . Once the races began , the air was filled wioth cheering and tons of encouragement for the young athletes .

The school Principal , Ms Poonam Sharma said Sport is quite beneficial for children , by playing sports children develop physical skills , exercise , make new friends , have fun , learn to be a team member , learn about play fair and improve self-esteem .

All the students demonstrated amazing agility , coordination and keenness in their participation . The day ended with prize distribution where the winners were awarded with medals by the school Principal .

 Investiture Ceremony 2017

‘Leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality ’- Warren Bennis

Investiture Ceremony is one of the most important occasion where the young students were prepared to don the mantle of leadership and discharge the responsibilities entrusted upon them by the school . To inculcate the leadership qualities in the students , give them a feel of leaders and a sense of responsibility the new ‘Prefectional body’ is formed .

The event began at 9:00 a.m. with shabad sang by the school choir . Principal Ms Poonam Sharma honoured head boy Kiranveer Singh and head girl Jaspreet Kaur along with the other cabinet members with badges and sashes .

Next in line to be conferred with badges were house captains , vice house captains and prefects of the four houses (Prakash , Vigyan , Pragati , Upkar ) . The newly appointed council was administered oath , in which students perform their duties with the sense of truthfulness , sincerity and dedication .

The school Principal Ms Poonam Sharma congratulated the new cabinet members and advised them to be impartial and honest in doing their duties . She wished the council good luck .


On 15 August 2017, Guru Nanak Foundation Public School, Celebrated India’s 71st glorious Independence Day with great patriotic fervour, zeal and zest. The celebration were a tribute to the national heroes whose tireless efforts gave us our much cherished freedom.

          The principal was the chief guest of the programme. She hoisted the national flag on the school building sharp at 8:00am. All the teachers and students saluted the flag and then sang the saluted the flag and then sang the National Anthem.A shabad enchanted by the teachers Ms.Santokh Kaur . After, Vande Mataram was sung by the teachers in order to pay a tribute to our freedom fighters. A speech was delivered by Ramneek Kaur of Class- X .

To mark the occasion an Inter house Patriotic song competition was conducted. Students danced to the song “Sabse Niara Gulstan Hamara hai” to spread the message of unity in diversity and peace.

In a motivating and inspiring speech , the Principal , Ms.Poonam Sharma addressed the students on the role of youth in free India and patriotism really meant. She said independence comprised of two words ‘inner’ and ‘dependence’ means self realization. We have sharp brains to release humble of knowledge and try to best out of you, believe in hardwork.

She motivated the students to make India a place where people have confidence and don’t believe in miracle they do themselves and don’t let anything incomplete.


Informative career counseling session was held on 30th August 2017 by Chandigarh Group of Colleges to impart knowledge about the various career options in technical fields, various scholarship programs for lower income group, recruitments of the students by companies like Google, Vodafone, Idea etc. Students were given Performa’s to fill in the information about their choice of courses, they are interested in.


Krishna Janmashtami(Lord Krishna’s Birthday)also known as krishnashtami , saatam Aatham, Gokulashtami, Ashtami Rohini, Srikrishna jayanti, Sree Jayanti celebrated on the eighth day of savanna month,Janmashtami marks the birth of Lord krishna, an avatar of Lord Vishnu.


Janmashtmi festival was celebrated with great zeal and pomp by the tiny tots of kindergarten section.

Children came dressed in, as Krishna and Radha and other colourful outfits.They made and wore peacock feather head gears and decorated matkas and flutes. The pre-primary was decorated colourfully with Jhankis depicting the birth place of lord Krishna and Krishna jhoola.

The tiny tots of kindergarten presented a beautiful dance on the song ‘Sham Bulaye Radha Mahi Aaye.’The audience too enjoyed the show.Later they were given Prasad, this festival taught them to be friendly and also the value of sharing.

It was a memorable day for one and all. Ms.Poonam Sharma , the school Principal thanked the teachers, students and helpers who worked hard to present this show.


Workshop on Road safety and fire drill was organized by the school on 18 August 2017, where Mr. Rajiv Gupta who is a safety Manager at Mahindra AND Mahindra along with the team of doctors and renowned Punjabi actress Ms. Diljott Kaur who is a part of NGO Protection on Road Safety interacted with students and guided them how to be safe on road. Students were made aware about the potential dangers and accidents on road. Knowledge about traffic rules and laws was also imparted. Thereafter Fire drill was conducted in the school ground, where fire extinguishers were shown and their working was taught to the senior students and drivers. Students were trained for emergency situations through the drill.


 Teej celebration was held in the school on August 5, 2017.The celebration began with recitation of shabad. Thereafter, special speech on the importance of significance of Teej celebration was delivered by a student of XII class. Giddha and Bhangra performance was given by the senior wing .All the students were dressed up traditionally with Punjabi attires and traditional ornaments. On this occasion, different competitions were held like-Inter house Mehandi Competition


To make the pupil’s sensitize about the environment, school organized a inter house quiz competition on topic ‘environment’ for senior students on 4th August 2017.Three students from each house participated in quiz competition enthusiastically. Among four houses, Vigyan house bagged first position followed by Prakash house.


The school had invited clay potter in the school to teach the students the beautiful art of making pots, diyas and toys using clay. Students along with the teachers took active part and enjoyed making pots and diyas their own. This activity enhanced their knowledge about traditional art of making utensils using pots. Benefits of Eco-Friendly pots and utensils was highlighted. The aim of this activity was to develop  connection of the students with our traditional heritage, which is getting lost due to so called modernized society.
